Marvel or DC

Published by skidrowe at 5:06 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I’m a DC guy.  I always have been.  Ever since I was a little boy with a red towel trailing from his Superman pajamas, I’ve been enthralled with DCs pantheon of heroes.  How could you do better than Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman?

Well, lately, it seems like you could do better.  Much better.  Trinity, DC’s new weekly comic featuring their ‘Big Three’ is just awful.  Final Crisis is confusing and indulgent.  Superman’s own comic is hit or miss.  The over-hyped Batman R.I.P. is just plain dull.

Over at Marvel, Secret Invasion is rocking the entire universe.  Marvel is telling a unified story with far-reaching impacts that are filtering through a number of ancillary books.

Spider-Man is charming and endearing.  The X-Men are working through issues in ways that are personally identifiable.  The new Thor series features solid storytelling.  Captain America, The Avengers (New & Mighty), Ultimate X-Men… Even if you deduct points for The Ultimates 3 being absolutely unreadable, Marvel is putting out the best books on the market right now, and DC is falling farther behind.

The little boy with the Superman PJs in me hates to say it, but until DC gets its act together, MAKE MINE MARVEL.

I never connected to DC because I found most of their heroes to be too perfect. I need to see struggle rather then ease to be enticed. Marvel all the way!!! You should read MoonKnight its a head trip.
